I am making this post today with a heavy heart. It is something I didn’t want to write, but staying silent only allows this toxic rot to continue and thrive.
Warning: This post is going to be incredibly aggressive and use harsh language against a specific clique of Discord users.
Author’s Note: The heavy language, insults, and anger in this post are directed strictly and specifically at the toxic Discord clique who decided to dogpile, insult, and bully me over a simple gameplay question. If you are just a regular reader, this anger is not aimed at you. Unless you are one of the pathetic people who attacked me and you are reading this, then yes, every single word of this is meant for you.
Yesterday, I made a post in Dune’s PTC Discord server about an issue that almost all players have noticed. I asked a straightforward question. It wasn’t meant for other end-users. It wasn’t a poll. It wasn’t a request for public opinion.
It was a question specifically for the developers of the game about their plans. I didn’t demand an immediate answer, nor did I ping a single developer or moderator.
Here is the exact post. No filters, no edits:
I will even write it down and even explain it now.
“A question to the devs, is there any plan for limiting the compactors on large spice fields? We have to pickup our crawler and put down every 10-15″, this is not a fun experience, I assume for them as well.”
From the answers I have gotten, ZERO from the devs that this question was addressed to, a few things can be concluded.
- I don’t know how to properly write this question that I want an answer from the devs.
- People are retards, they don’t know how to read and comprehend text.
- People are morons, they seek attention and validation for the attention whores they are.
- There is a clique in the Dune’s PTC that just ridicules other players for no reason.
- People are absolute, brain-dead morons who lack basic reading comprehension.
- People are attention-starved sycophants desperate for validation.
- People are miserable and just looking for a fight to distract from their empty lives.
- People are just plain retards. No further explanation needed.
Maybe all of those answers can be true at the same time unfortunately.
If you are too dense to understand my original question, let me break it down into bite-sized pieces for the lowest common denominators.
If you reply with anything other than an answer to this specific question, you fall firmly into the brain-dead category.
You consume precious oxygen at our expense, and your existence is an insult to basic human intelligence.
Also YOUR reply isn’t wanted or asked for.
–I am asking a question to the developers of Dune: Awakening. If you are NOT a developer, I DO NOT CARE FOR YOUR OPINION. I DIDN’T ASK FOR IT. End of story. The fact that you felt compelled to insert your useless opinion makes you an arrogant fool.
–Developers: Do you have any plans for limiting compactors on large spice fields? Not users! developers. Do you have plans now or in the future? Maybe you don’t. Maybe the plan is to let the remaining 8,000 players quit the game for all I know or care. I don’t want user speculation. Do you idiots in the Discord even understand what a dev is? Or do you think sitting in a PTC server magically makes you a game developer? Fuck off.
–The Issue: We (and by “we” I mean many players, not just me) have to pick up and put down our crawlers every 10 to 15 seconds because compactors attract the sandworm with their compactions endlessly.
–The Reality: I assume this isn’t fun for anyone, not for us in the crawlers, and not for the compactor-spammers who have to constantly lift off, either. This is no way to play a game!
After breaking this down so even the lowest scum could understand it, who do you think replied? Who pinged the devs begging for attention? Who was called an attention-seeker? Who got personally insulted, and who had their question totally strawmanned?
Let me make it super easy because the truth is what the facts are. What we can show to be true.
–No developers answered. I know it’s their weekend and they need rest. (Wait, sorry, rest is ONLY for Dune devs, not us peasants). But at no point did I demand an answer the very next second. Please, point out where I demanded an immediate reply. It’s still there. Go look.
–Random nobodies pinged moderators and devs, claiming I was seeking attention and demanding an instant reply! If stupidity were an Olympic sport, you absolute clowns wouldn’t even be able to find the stadium.
–I was called an attention-seeker by attention-seeking parasites because I didn’t want answers from random users. Out of all the genetic possibilities in the world, you are the ones who made it? It’s a tragedy.
–Because they aren’t devs and I didn’t accept their unwanted answers, the chat devolved into a personal attack fuckfest against me. If it was just one guy, I’d laugh. But every active chatter in that channel joined in. That’s why I call it a toxic clique. Then you assholes cry that the game has lost 95% of its player base. YOU ARE THE REASON PLAYERS LEFT.
-My question I think was answered honestly by just 1 user, but again I didn’t ask for his answer.
Although I would like to thank this user for not joining the insults clique, this user was a user and not a dev that this question was addressed to. Why people fail to read properly and comprehend the question? Do you guys know that you do NOT have to reply to everything posted?
Every other reply I got was either a strawman of my question or a personal insult. That I was seeking attention, that I was seeking an immediate answer to my question, that I should have asked this question to the public discord instead of the ptc.
About the last one, I thought about it and I didn’t post it there for 2 reasons that I have explained those reasons to the retards.
Reason 1: The link they provided in the public discord was only questions by users to users and ended up the same way my question ended up, flame wars. From the start I am saying this. This is not a poll, this is not a gallop to ask what users think about the limitation of the usage of compactors in large spice fields. I didn’t ask for your opinion nor I cared for it. That discord server would definitely had my question not being answered by the people I want to. You know, the people who can actually act on it? Not the end users? Hello?
Reason 2: IF and I am saying IF they have a plan to make adjustments, let’s say to increase the compactor’s power consumption so it won’t be spammed like 50 times a minute and attract the sandworm constantly, where the fuck do you think they would apply that test first? The PLAYTEST server, you inbred, miserable excuses for human beings.
The funniest part is that I have asked in the unofficial self hosted discord community the same question and I have asked if people in the ptc are retards or if I got something wrong.
Some time later, another super retard, I will call this retard as retardus rex, King of all retards, Trust me the competition for the title of king of retards was super high but this last moment entry overtook it, joined in the “fun”.
And started with “it must be something else and I got it wrong” and “I was lucky he didn’t see it in time to join in”.
It told him that he is welcome to join in, I am always up for a good debate as long as it address the issue at hand and not a strawman position.
Now this conversation takes place in the self hosted discord community, he takes the chat back to the ptc chat and what do you think he does?
Strawman my position!
I have reported his replies to discord safe team for harassment, out of all the insults I got, he was the most offensive insulting whore of the clique. Maybe he found his wife is fucking with his dog? Or maybe his wife walked on him while his dog was fucking him? I don’t know and I do not care.
But I am not leaving it like that, I am openly talking to the police to file a lawsuit against all involved in both servers and of course vs discord. I will take this to the extreme just because I can.
He failed to provide an answer to my question he quoted and instead he posed another question. I don’t know if it is a legit question or a retard like him question and I do not care.
He asked if they should also limit the crawlers in small fields. To which I have replied “I am not funcom, I do not know their plans”. Isn’t it so super easy? When you do not know, you do NOT need to answer.
My personal take on his question though?
I have never seen anyone with a crawler in a small spice field. I have done as experiment on my own self hosted server in my Hagga Basin area 1 run like that just to test if I get any extra spice sand harvesting bonus from the new abilities.
Hint: No, you actually get less. The harvester only gets a boost of the 20% from the planetologist skill-tree.
The gathering specialization doesn’t improve it at all unfortunately.
So someone with a carrier and harvester farming a small spice field is stupid because it makes the player earn less than a player with compactor.
- Crawler stock from small spice field = 500 Spice Sand.
- Crawler + 20% from planetologist on small spice field = 600 Spice Sand.
- Crawler + 20% from planetologist + 100 levels from gathering on small spice field = 600 Spice Sand.
- Compactor + planetologist + 100 levels from gathering on small spice field = About 835 to 850 Spice Sand depending on your compactor and if you capture the full area.
So you see there is no benefit for crawling in a small spice field. Should funcom limit it?
My answer of course from above still stands.
Also I don’t have data on how many players actually do that and if this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
I would both agree with a restriction there in order to let people with compactors have more dedicated areas where they do not annoy all the rest and I would also disagree because you earn less, it can be a form of punishment for the greedy players who do that.
Now what is the plan?
I have reported his harassing replies to the Discord Trust & Safety team. I have open tickets. I am in contact with my lawyer and local authorities about the targeted harassment, and they will guide me. I will not update this post with developments on that case. I will take this to the extreme simply because I can.
I have left both communities, both are highly toxic and totally unworthy of my time. Also I didn’t see anyone standing up for me. So yeah, you want to have an echo chamber and pat each other on your backs? Be it.
The game has died, the community is also dying and you guys have killed them all. Not me. I will insist that IF people didn’t engage with my question at all, at some point, 2 days? a week? a month? a year? I don’t really care, a developer would have replied. Maybe their answer would have been as it is painfully obvious “we do not give a fuck any longer for this game, it is what it is, keep playing or not, we do not give a fuck”. It is a perfectly good answer for me. Also this is what I perceive as a player of this game since its start.
When it’s convenient for them, they listen to the community. When it is not they give us the middle finger.
No other way to explain it took them nearly a year to give us self hosted servers. It took them as well nearly a year to remove the forced pvp wall they had placed on endgame content.
Only when numbers speak they take actions. And oh boy those numbers are brutal!
Will the world end that I left those toxic communities? Of course not! As I do not give a crap about their miserable lives, I bet they do the same for me. Before I left those toxic communities, I had the displeasure to witness another user being attacked for another question on another topic by the same clique of highly toxic incels. Don’t you dare and ask why this game is dead. The answer to this question has been clear since day 1 and have been all over in this article .
What about my own personal Github projects.
I was one of the first people who wanted to contribute towards the self-hosting world. I love this field. This is where I thrive. So I have a few projects on my own.
Yes, there are other creators who have done amazing job and kudos to them. I am grateful for their contribution, help and support.
My projects are all copyleft, some of the other creators chose to use their own licenses. It is what it is.
But for my projects, I was pointing for support to the self hosted discord server as I thought it was the right place for that.

I love my projects and I want to support them. But doing so takes time out of my life and what do I get in return? A restriction and jail channel** that had all the retards in? Oh fuck off!

My projects are copyleft, you are free to fork them and adjust them and provide support through your channels but be honest in your server rules.
That people will be attacked, ridiculed by other members. This has to be rule number 1. I am a victim of this.
You are a clique of parasites who contribute absolutely nothing to any project, yet you sit around gatekeeping and harassing the people who actually create things. **Where I am wrong and where I need to apologize
Today, this morning when I woke up, I had an alert of my phone from discord. Well there were 4 but the other 3 are irrelevant to Dune or this story. The alert was from the Self Hosted discord server. I pressed on it while still in bed and it took me to that server but I couldn’t read what was the ping I got. I assumed of course another attack on me as continuation of the yesterday’s abuse I got.
But the topic wouldn’t open. I looked the channels list, it was empty, only I think it had the welcome channel, the rules channel and a new channel that I saw for the first time: #The-hollows.
I haven’t seen this channel prior and I was from the mobile phone, every other channel was gone apart from 2 maybe 3 channels that I mentioned above including this channel and it had a message by the admin “don’t do it”:
Now given I had just woken up, had no coffee and I was from the phone and I was already stressed from my last night’s experience I wrongly assumed this was a jail room for me.
Yes, I was wrong and I will explain here. I am never afraid to admit when I am wrong and learn from my mistakes. But here you will read also some things that contradict my version of the story.
Yes, I agree what that the truth is what the facts are, what we can show to be true. I live and I will die by this quote.
But I think the data have been manipulated somehow. I am not admin or moderator there, I don’t know this jeffy bot or how it reads logs or how it will spew out the logs for parsing.
Whilst the truth is what the facts are, I don’t think those are the facts that show the truth and I think the bot shows the events from a trap that was set up for me.
So what happen?
I am on my bed with my phone and I only see this room that I can reply in that has the word “don’t do it“. And I am thinking (still in bed):

-Should not ask a question for a potential fix that could and should be fixed first in the ptc?
-Or should I not protect myself from insults those motherfuckers said to me?
-I will shit and piss on their graves
-Or anyone’s grave for how they spoke to me
-And all this for a game question.

-What is their punishment?
-You know what? this community is garbage. I am sorry it took me too long to mention it.

-Just be clear on the rules that here is to mock, ridicule and attack other users for asking in game questions.
I was trying to paste in that chat the first image I also post in this article, my original question but this channel didn’t allow me to paste images so I wrote:
-I can’t paste here an image of the question. Doesn’t matter though. I am right now speaking with discord’s safety team and I am filling an official complain with ALL the nicknames in this case.
As I am writing this article I was contacted by the admin in DM, he was “kind” enough to provide those screenshots. I had deleted those texts when I sat on my pc and saw that this room wasn’t a jail room that I thought it was but it had all members there. Now for what purpose? A trap set up for me? Because if it is meant for spam bots, you have to exclude from that channels the members who have already shown they are not spammers and bots. That we are in the allow list of this channel makes the admins lose all credibility.
But only he can answer, I give them the courtesy they deny me.
He claims that I got banned because I posted a reply the “don’t do it” and this triggered the bot to do its job and ban me.
Above I have laid out my perspective on what I have experienced this morning, yes, I did mistakes that I saw this without having my coffee and my pc but from my phone right after I woke up and I wasn’t thinking clearly. Wouldn’t I have said any of those? I absolutely would as I did there and in this post. I take nothing back, I regret nothing other than it happen in a room it wasn’t supposed to happen.
The logs conveniently show a series of events the admin provides as “truth” and in almost every other case I would just accept it.
But this is not how it happen to me this morning.
For me, I had already lost access to all rooms, I couldn’t even see why was I pinged in the first place for fuck’s sake! Why am I in this server with a ping? Why are all rooms hidden but only this one is open for me write in?
It’s a trap!
Now are those logs of the actions of the bot Jeffy alone? Does those logs also include actions by other admins/moderators? Does the parsing of those include any and all activity or just a minor timeframe?
In any case, I no longer care. I apologize to the regular users who had to see that rant, my beef has always been strictly with the bullies who attacked me. You didn’t deserve to read that. I am truly sorry.
The admin told me that I can say what I want the logs he has the logs that says otherwise. Sorry, I do not believe your logs. I need to know how they were collected.
He also told me that “he doesn’t need people there that make threats to brun things down and accuse moderators/admins of shit.”
Well, let me address this. I didn’t say jackshit about your server’s moderators and admin. That is a strawman. Please quote me where I did say anything about you and your moderators. And I didn’t threaten anyone, I was the one being harassed. You have to prove that as well since you have the “proper discord insight logs”. And what makes you think I need people like you and communities like yours?
I didn’t talk bad to anyone in the chat yet people insulted me on every reply, did you act on it? Nah of course and not!
He also said that “since you want to be like this maybe I will raise the threats of burning things down with discord safety team good day bye” and he blocked me.
Well, what can I do? Make my cat cry? Yes, you absolutely should report this to the Discord Safety team, but tell them the full truth. Not isolated texts stripped of context, as you seem to be doing here. Do you think I won’t do the same for you? You are threatening me right now in my DMs while willingly ignoring the harassment from your own toxic members.
You are only reinforcing my conclusion that your community -and by extension, you- are a highly toxic place to be.
And I ask this. Does all of the above worth it for a simple in game question?
Does all of this drama worth it over a simple in-game question? If only you people knew how to read and comprehend text, and didn’t engage with something that wasn’t meant for them in the first place.
I know that if it wasn’t me, someone who can fight back, expose, and publicly ridicule you, it would have been someone else more reserved who would just give up, leave and open the road for the next abuse.
I actually feel guilty for not writing this sooner, as I have witnessed the parasitic clique attack other innocent players.
